The Irish quartet returns after 2 years of silence after “To The Faithful Departed” release. The exhaustion and monotony caused by a lot of months touring, had The Cranberries in danger about their continuance.
Now, after they had a good rest, they have come to the job adding new energies. Many things have happened to the band (formed by Dolores O’riordan, the Hogan brothers and Fergal Lawler) since they released their first album in 1993. “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?” is the title from the album, which was during 2 years in the albums rankings. Because of “Dreams” and “Linger” mainly, the album sold over 7 million copies worldwide.
Immediately later, in 1994, The Cranberries produced the second album “No Need To Argue”, which has songs like “Zombie”, “Ode To My Family”, “I Can’t Be With You” and “Ridiculous Thoughts”. Songs that made them stars in the entire world. On the next year, they started an American Tour in many northamerican cities and then a World Tour, to be, in 1996, back to studios to record the third album “To The Faithful Departed” in just 5 weeks.
Although everything seemed to be perfect, not everything was going that way. That third album release had a World Tour again, starting in May 1996, with many interviews and television programs. Everything was making difficult to the band take a breath. The band couldn’t take that anymore, so they had to cancel many concerts from Europe mainly. “We feel relief – said Noel Hogan, guitarist from the band – people understood that we needed to take a rest. We almost became crazy persons.
That’s why The Cranberries were away from stages for 2 years. “My brother Mike – commented Noel – spent many months in Manchester going to Soccer games; Fergal and her wife move to Asia, in November 1997, Dolores and Don had a beautiful baby (Taylor), and me and my wife created a restaurant in Limerick”.
With time passing by, the band rested enough to notice that they wanted to come back to studios, and give the best of themselves in the new album. From those quiet months with friends and family, they made “Bury The Hatchet”, their fourth and most recent production where they present more refreshing and harmonic songs.
