Review #1 from Chris (Pine Knob, Detroit, Michigan, 30.08.99)
Here is my review of the Detroit Pine Knob show: Collective Soul opened the show and sounded pretty good. They got the crowd warmed up.At 9:00 The Cranberries came out and opened up with “Promises”.”Animal Instinct”was next followed by “Ode to my Family”The crowd was just getting warmed up(temps were in the 40’s)when “Linger” started.”Sunday”was next and sounded great.”Salvation”,”Wanted”,”Waltzing Back”,and “You and Me”were next. Then,in my opinion, the best song of the night,Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way”.After that, they slowed it down with “Pretty”,”When You’re Gone”and “Daffodil Lament”.”Zombie”rocked next followed by “I Can’t Be With You”.They ended the set with “Ridiculous Thoughts”. The encores began with Dolores at a white piano playing “Dying in the Sun”She then moved down to a stool with the rest of the band and played “Shattered”.”Just my Imagination”and “Delilah” followed and sounded great.Sadly the show had to end so Dreams” ended it. 21 songs in all.I could not have asked for a better show. The sound was great(other than Dolores’ guitar going out in the beginning of “Zombie). Her vocals were better than ever. The band sounded solid and the crowd was into every song. They played all the songs I wanted to hear(except “Free to Decide”),but hell,I’m not complaining.
This is the 4th time I’ve seen them and I think this was the best. One of the best concerts I’ve seen in a long time.
